Christopher Merritt, the newest member of their auction team, specializes in personal property auctions and enjoys conducting benefit auctions. Merritt is a native North Carolinian hailing from the Rose Hill area of Duplin County. He spent the last 32 years in the service of the United States Army and the Department of Defense working at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. He was a licensed auctioneer in the state, and honed his craft working with experienced auctioneers. After retiring from his "day job" in October 2010, he returned to his home state and attended the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, securing his North Carolina Auctioneering License in December 2010. Since then, he has worked with several church and civic groups conducting successful fund-raising auctions. As part of the Johnson Properties team, Merritt will focus primarily on personal property, consignment and benefit auctions.
